We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team to solve challenging, meaningful problems and create a safer and optimized work experience for our business and our employees. This role is critical in leading and supporting the design, development, integration, testing, and sustainment of electrical and controls systems in aerospace and defense manufacturing applications. This role requires strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary Integrated Program Teams (IPTs) in a regulated, safety-critical environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starting and collaborative professional who values innovation, and has extensive experience in electrical design, a strong understanding of industry manufacturing standards, and the ability to lead complex engineering projects from conception to completion. The successful candidate will contribute to all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept through production and field support, while ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Design & Development: Lead electrical system design for complex defense products, subsystems, and test equipment. Develop electrical architectures, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable assemblies, and interface control documents. Select and qualify electrical components in accordance with military, industry, and environmental standards. Support design efforts including design reviews, and acceptance testing.
- Project Planning & Coordination: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resources, and deliverables. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, chemical, manufacturing, quality, programs, EHS) to ensure seamless project execution, on time and on budget.
- Collaboration & Communication: Serve as the main EE point of contact between engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to drive alignment on design, production, EHS, and quality objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for new and existing products.
- Systems Integration and Technical Execution: Support integration of electrical systems with mechanical, software, and systems engineering disciplines. Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform root cause analysis. Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and verification/validation activities. Support system qualification and acceptance testing. Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, and engineering change packages. Participate in configuration management and formal change control processes.
- Technical Leadership: Oversee and/or contribute to the creation of detailed engineering drawings, and technical documentation. Ensure that designs comply with standards and are manufacturable. Contribute to engineering best practices, process improvements, and lessons learned.
- Engineering Analysis and Reliability: Conduct trade studies and technical evaluations to evaluate performance, safety, and reliability, using advanced analysis tools. Perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and reliability assessments. Ensure robust, producible and maintainable designs.
- Product Testing & Validation: Lead product testing efforts, ensuring that designs meet functional, safety, and quality requirements. Coordinate design iterations and optimizations based on testing results. Conduct A-3 Root cause and corrective/preventive action reviews when necessary.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting continuous professional growth and a collaborative work environment. Design projects for engineering interns and coach/mentor intern through the project.
- Reporting: Prepare presentations, field reports, cost estimates, and design reviews as needed to support Program Manager and project milestones.
- Supplier & Vendor Management: Work closely with external suppliers and vendors to ensure that parts and systems are produced to specification, delivered on time, and meet quality standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize LEAN and six sigma strategies to continually improve operations or technology. Stay current with industry trends and advancements and integrate emerging technologies and best practices into design and development processes.
