Our department encompasses more than 60 faculty members and more than 500 staff.

The Department of Radiology is home to nationally recognized leaders in their fields that drive the mission of the institution forward. Radiologists interpreted more than 700,000 studies during the last year, covering our Level I Trauma Center with a census of approximately 700 beds, our NCCN-accredited Comprehensive Cancer Center, Kentucky Children’s Hospital, and our outpatient imaging facilities. This recruitment will support our continued growth, including: opening of a Cancer and Advanced Ambulatory Building, a new multi-disciplinary ambulatory care site, an expansion of our main hospital, and a new tower for Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

The Department is active in education. The Diagnostic Radiology residency program has 32 residents (8 per class). The Integrated Interventional Radiology residency has 10 residents (2 per class). The Department has both the Early Specialization in IR (ESIR) pathway and the Independent Interventional Radiology residency. The Department also boasts a Medical Physics Residency. For those interested in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, the accelerated pathway to dual ABNM and ABR certification is available. The Department also supports learners on the ABR alternate pathway. There are many opportunities to teach and interact with medical students as well.
