Key Responsibilities

Technology & Operational Leadership

  • Provide executive oversight of all IT operations, technology platforms, and mortgage system performance.
  • Lead the execution of IT operational strategy to support business growth and customer experience.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of core mortgage systems (LOS, servicing platforms, CRM, compliance systems).

Mortgage Systems & Process Optimization

  • Oversee operational performance of mortgage technology systems such as:
    • Loan Origination Systems (Encompass, Empower, etc.)
    • Document management and e-signature tools
    • Servicing and payment systems
    • Secondary market and investor reporting platforms
  • Drive automation, workflow improvements, and process efficiencies across mortgage operations.

Compliance, Risk & Security

  • Ensure IT operations meet all regulatory requirements including:
    • CFPB, FHA, VA, FNMA/FHLMC guidelines
    • SOC, GLBA, cybersecurity standards
  • Partner with compliance and risk teams to strengthen controls, audits, and business continuity planning.
  • Oversee data security, disaster recovery, and incident response.

Strategic Planning & Digital Transformation

  • Lead modernization initiatives including cloud migration, AI-driven underwriting tools, and digital mortgage transformation.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies that improve speed, accuracy, and borrower experience.
  • Develop long-term IT operational roadmaps aligned with business priorities.

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Oversee IT operational budgets, forecasting, and cost optimization.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure vendor accountability to performance SLAs.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build and lead high-performing teams across IT operations, infrastructure, application support, and mortgage tech services.
  • Collaborate with mortgage operations leaders to ensure technology supports production goals.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and service excellence.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in IT operations, with at least 5 years at an executive level.
  • Strong experience in mortgage lending technology and operational workflows.
  • Proven ability to lead enterprise-scale technology and process transformation.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in mortgage banking, servicing, or fintech environments.
  • Familiarity with LOS platforms and mortgage compliance requirements.
  • Track record managing large IT budgets and complex vendor ecosystems.
