NeoGenomics is looking for a Molecular Scientist who wants to learn to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow. This is an onsite position with a Monday – Friday, day shift in Houston, TX.

Position Summary:
As a Molecular Scientist you will be responsible for conducting scientific experiments/processes leading to the successful completion of client projects and company projects including the development of high value, proprietary research or diagnostic products, new methods and technology development. You will also provide accurate and pertinent scientific data according to agreed methods, procedures, and techniques within the established project schedules.
Responsibilities:
- New Assay Development: Conceive, design, develop, validate and execute novel molecular assays, including PCR (qPCR, ddPCR, real-time PCR), Sanger, NGS, and other advanced molecular techniques
- Drive innovation in assay sensitivity, specificity, and robustness to meet scientific, clinical and regulatory standards
- Work closely with Bioinformatics to analyze and interpret complex sequencing datasets and analysis pipelines
- Experimental Planning & Execution: Design and conduct experiments to validate molecular tests for clinical trials or diagnostic needs
- Analyze data rigorously, troubleshoot technical challenges, and refine protocols to ensure accuracy and reproducibility
- Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, clinical, regulatory, quality) teams to translate scientific discoveries into scalable diagnostic solutions
- Evaluate and integrate emerging sequencing platforms and technologies (e.g., Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, PacBio, Element Biosciences)
Education, Experience & Qualifications
- B.S or Masters in a life, physical or computer science with related experience. Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Bioengineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Extensive hands-on experience with assay design, development and validations for broad range of molecular assays
- Strong experience in data qc, data review and data analysis
- Basic understanding of laboratory or analytical techniques.
- Detail orientated with ability to capture and record complex scientific data accurately and reliably.
- Good written and verbal presentation skills and the ability to use software tools to produce high impact presentations of data.
- Ability to problem solve and escalate problems appropriately in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain production and quality standards.
